Gay Life and Marriage in San Francisco

Donald Bird and David Young have been together as partners for 42 years after a chance meeting in a car park. For many years they have campaigned tirelessly for equality for gay men and women in California and the United States. They have been very much involved in the campaign for gay marriage. They talk about their lives in San Francisco over the years and the changes they have seen. They also discuss why it is so important that gay people are allowed to get married and why their own relationship is such a success story. Donald is now also a gay marriage celibrant.

I was very priviledged to meet them recently in San Francisco and witnessed first hand how much they loved each other. They are as different as chalk and cheese but their relationship clearly works and it is wonderful to see them contradicting the idea that long term gay relationships do not work.
