I pressed play and after watching "the first ever sound recorded" I just cannot watch this clip until the morning. Why is it when you watch things at night, they are so frightening!

Margotdarby is confusing The Lost Chord with another Sullivan song, The Absent-minded Beggar (one of his last compositions) which was, indeed, written in 1899 to support the Boer War effort.
