  • Does this have tape in the machine?

  • Yes it does if you look at the top of the machine you can see the tape going round over the heads.

  • What tape you got in it?

  • @muzboz You've just set forth a million dollar Idea. I'll get started

  • What is your take on this comparably to the fulltone tape echo ? I want a unit like the fulltone, but I think I may be swayed to get one like yours, only because it has reverb as well, kind of looks nicer as well, and has that cool meter

  • That is a very nice machine! I've just bought my third Watkins Copicat. I already had the Mk III Solid State, and a IC400 Varispeed, and now I've bought a MkII valve unit.

Varispeed is definitely a nice feature, especially seeing as we take a "time" knob for granted on our delays these days!

I bet this baby is worth a mint!

I STILL think it must be possible to make a fairly cheap (affordable) mini tape echo, that fits in a fairly-portable guitar pedal style form factor. Come on!? Surely!

  • @merasanam did you not watch or even listen to the video before bitching? the tape erases itself and records continuously, and nothing can sound like a tape being read with a head, digital just tries to model the sound...

  • @merasanam

Not everyone "likes" the sterile sound of digital.

Tape makes for a very warm analog sound...that NO DSP can duplicate accurately...although there are some that come close.

    A matter of opinion.

  • 1:07 - 1:19 nice sounds

  • WTF.... tape reverb would have been nice for the 70s, maybe 80s, but tape in 2011?

Today a 3$ DSP can do all the effects.

Besides, what do you do when the tape is used? Buy another tape?

  • Nice one Mr T McDonald, your best to date.

    Best wishes from Dave.

  • Why doesn't the tape have a cover? I know looking at the tape go 'round and 'round is fascinating and necessary for this demo, but it's fragile!
