Douglas Rintoul - Artistic Director of Transport Theatre, UK - conducted a theatre workshop for performers at Ranan, Calcutta on 17 December 2011. Entitled ' The Actor, the Space, the Ensemble, and Classic and Contemporary British text', the workshop drew from theatre games, creative exercises, improvisation, group movement, reading and discussion, to explore and experience the potential power of the actor when fully present in the space.
Participants were Daminee Basu Mukherjee, Indudipa SInha, Jo Royle, Neha Poddar, Nilankur Mukhopadhyay, Saira Shah Halim, Shadab Kamal, Shuktara Lal, Sumit Roy, Sunayana Roy and Vicky Long.
Douglas Rintoul, Emma Cameron and Vicky Long are in Calcutta to work with Ranan on the India phase of our collaborative project, 'The Edge', part funded by the British Council's 'Connections through Culture' scheme.
