Ronnie Drew performing a parody on the visit of John F. Kennedy to Ireland, set to "The Sash My Father Wore". It was recorded in McNamara's Pub, Kilrush Co. Clare in August 1963. It was an audio only recording. I spliced it with video from a TV performance of "McAlpine's Fusiliers". It is not intended to fool anyone, it's just something to look at while listening to the song.

  • it must be the mayo breed in me

  • i apologise for my knee jerk reaction to your first comment. i think the question should be why wouldn't he sing an orange song? the simple answer to your question is he's singing it for the crack. he also sang "the old orange flute" for the same reason. ronnie had no problem singing "the old orange flute" because he wasn't a bigot and it's a good song. as can be heard from the recording of "the sash", the patrons of mcnamara's pub were not bigots either as they sang along with gusto.

  • i always thought ronnie drew was a mick tinker, whats he singing an orange man song for??

  • have you now realised you were obviously very ignorant for always thinking that?

  • this song is just a bit of a laugh thats all.i apologise to you if i have offended you wangman.i sing the auld orange flute and i like the tune so wats the problem?

  • i think we've crossed wires, my reply was meant for for rabbithog. sorry about that.
