Why should I become Catholic?

Reason #1: The Holy Eucharist

Jesus did and said many things during His life to show people how much God loved them. The seven most important things Jesus did to show us how much God loves us was to give us the Seven Sacraments. These were actions Jesus started and wanted us to continue so His message of love could be continued in every age.

The Sacrament that we receive most often is the Sacrament of the Eucharist: Holy Communion. It is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ.

At the Last Supper, Jesus took bread, broke it, gave thanks, and said,

"Take this and eat; this is My Body."

He then gave it to His discipline. He also took a cup of wine and said,

"This is the cup of My Blood in the new covenant poured out for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of Me."

When Mass is celebrated, we do what Jesus commanded us to do. Jesus is truly present in our midst.

Saint Paul also reminded us that we are not only one with Jesus; we are also one with our brothers and sisters. We should treat them with as much respect as we would show Jesus.

We are even called to go forth from church after Mass and share the Good News of how much God loves us with everyone whom we meet.

  • I would suggest that you obtain a history of the papacy. There are many books that can open the eyes of those willing to see.

  • @Tommy5297 I've studied the papacy and I addressed your comment with that in mind. I don't think your objection stands. The fact that popes in the past have committed grave sins does not eliminate the line of succession. And as I said, there has only ever been one pope at a time. The others who claimed the papacy were called "anti-popes" and were never valid.

  • You have not had unbreakable succesion. Some popes paid, some killed, two at one time. And you wonder why you are in turmoil.

  • @Tommy5297 No one said that the pope would be sinless. And there has nevel been two popes at once; it was always one valid pope and one (or at times two) pretenders.

  • For so many years you prayed for me to return, and, with God's grace, I have come home. Thank you, Our Lord Jesus, Our Lady, the Communion of Saints, and all my Catholic brothers and sisters, especially my Mom and Dad, my family, and all those I cannot name personally, all of whom prayed for me. WE ARE INDEED CATHOLIC. Thank you for welcoming me home!

  • God bless the Catholic church, the TRUE church :)

  • ‎"All past persecutors of the Church are now no more, but the Church still lives on. The same fate awaits modern persecutors; they, too, will pass on, but the Church of Jesus Christ will always remain, for God has pledged His Word to protect Her and be with Her forever, until the end of time."- Don Bosco

  • @orithelion :) I think people are sometimes just scared to face the fact that they were wrong or they are scared to accept any changes in their lives that may come with accepting the truth.. Also, with regards to our Faith, sadly, the Church has been the object of persecutions these past years. That is why, more than ever, this is the time that we should stand up for our faith. Much like what the early Christians did- only this time, we defend not with swords but with words. God bless you.

  • @HereIam108 I continue not understanding why people judge things only by their negative manifestation... Why do we see only the bad sides and let ourselves make judgements based on them? Why are we so prone to discarding good?Is it some way of securing oneself from disillusionment? Thank You for Your comment Herelam.

  • Católicos... voltem para sua casa!

  • Nós somos a Igreja Católica!!!

  • For those who took time to find the wrongs of the people who are members of the Church PLEASE also take time to know our saints, our martyrs, scientists, and lay people - who have lived up to their Faith.

When you really have the desire to know the Truth, you will see that its fullness resides in teh Catholic Church. Know the Early Church fathers, the doctrines, everything.. and you will then realize how joyful it is to be Catholic.

    God bless us.

    Holy Mary, intercede for us.

  • They struggle just as we do. And I'm sure they struggle more than us lay people. Many people have pointed out the wrongs of the Church BUT isn't it fair also to see, to know who she really is? Too often we are blinded by hate and we fail to see the Truth. And sometimes we are just too proud to admit that we were wrong even if our eyes have been opened to see the Truth. The Catholic Church has contributed a lot to the good of humanity- and she will continue her mission to the end of time.

  • People should be realize that the Catholic Church should not be judged based on the merits of the members of her family. Yes, Catholics sometimes do not live up to the call of the faith, even priests and other church leaders, BUT the Church is the mystical body of Jesus Christ- it is and will always be Holy because the Holy Spirit resides in it. We should be humble enough to admit that we are just humans and humble enough to consider that even the Pope, bishops, and priests are too.
