This 1996 misfire fix is shown here on this video including how I scanned and reset the misfiring codes. My first approach is to do a complete tune up since it was done one and half years ago. You will see a grounded ignition coil wire shorted which was rubbing the exhaust manifold that I replaced.
A good way to check a 1996 Dodge misfire fix is to have a quick road test which I did with the vehicle owner. We drove the vehicle for 5 miles and so far the misfire did not return including the check engine light. Please be cautioned though that the misfire code can still re-occur after a few days of driving.

To fix the notorious random multiple cylinder misfire code on mid 90s dodge trucks like the Dakota and the ram. After much research and headaches. It basically comes down to two things, secondary ignition crossfire which there is a tsb you can follow and it is, TSB18-48-98. It has to be followed exactly or it wont help. The second thing has to do with the engine not having enough dedicated grounds. The first aftermarket ground you should add is on the left fuel rail 2nd is off the igncoil bolts.
