There were, according to Wiki, 3 flu epidemics in the 20th century, which killed hundereds of thousands. But in 2009 we are indefinately better equipped to deal with a global pandemic. The internet is a very useful tool. It might not even cause one anyway - lots of New York school kids brought it back, all mild cases.
