I wanted to create something absurd, but beautiful. I leave a lot to chance.
Will Marquis of the band "The Meanest Boys" contacted me to make a video one of their tracks from a new album "Cheer Up Friend," An album that was going to be released on cassette tape. I was currently experimenting with slow motion footage and had found this really great footage from a Purina commercial of fluffy dogs being tossed and dropped about. It had been shot with the very expensive Phantom high-speed camera. The footage in this video largely comes from youtube and archive.org. I took parts of videos for their texture and color, then put them into Final Cut Pro to cut them into pieces and placed them into layers as if a in a collage. To get the "pixel bleeds" I used "datamoshing" techniques using ffmeg and avidemux2_qt4. Then it was just push and pull to let the movement find its synchronicity with the audio track.

@jkjkjij22 yo.
that was a shot of clouds that i data moshed together and chroma keyed out the black? so an animation of colorbars could show through.
then. i think i cut the same clip up a bunch of time and layed it over each other
and pulled them each back with a crop....so they do that window delay thing at the end.
does that make any sense?
