John and Laura Baxter are living in Venice when they meet a pair of elderly sisters, one of whom claims to be psychic. She insists that she sees the spirit of the Baxters' daughter, who recently drowned. Laura is intrigued, but John resists the idea. He, however, seems to have his own psychic flashes, seeing their daughter walk the streets in her red cloak, as well as Laura and the sisters on a funeral gondola.

keep in mind that this was made in the 70's many thing that are grate then are very out dated today due to technology and a different point of view on what is now scary and thrilling. Kinda like a book you have to read in class bc it was a hallmark of its time period.

ugh... enough with da hates ik it's an opinion but I find it a masterpiece and so do the critics but it's only an opinion

Okay, fine, so the plot didn't make sense in terms of classic cause and effect, but so what? It's a film about our remarkable ability to totally ignore the supernatural. A testament to how easy it is to be thick-skulled. And I also thought it did a great job of showing how Venice can be both compelling and threatening, depending on the eyes you see it through. It's not something everyone will enjoy, granted, but that doesn't make it bad.

@funnyman200 Yeah , I won´t trust IMDB reviews anymore ! I read so many great comments about this piece of garbage that I ended up buying the dvd ! What a waste ! The plot had so much potencial , it seemed so promising , it could have been such an awesome movie , but somehow they managed to screw it up !

OMG this movie is so messed up! specially i didnt get the end ..with that funny old dwarf woman XD, and those scenes which i couldnt match..
