The lights go out all around me,
One last candle to keep out the night,
And then the darkness surrounds me
I know Im alive but I feel like Ive died
And all thats left is to accept that its over
My dreams ran like sand through the fists that I made
I try to keep warm, but I just grow colder
I feel like Im slipping away

After all this has passed, I still will remain

My whole world is the pain inside me,
The best I can do is just get through the day.
When life before is only a memory,
Ill wonder why God lets me walk through this place,
And though I cant understand why this happened
I know that I will when I look back someday,
And see how youve brought beauty from ashes,
And made me as gold purified through these flames

That was really good, a voice said from behind me. That was weird. No one used to be able to sneak up on me before. Usually, I could sense them first. Why didnt I just now? I turned to see Jacob, an unfamiliar girl, and another unfamiliar guy. The girl had hair that hung a little over half way to her shoulders, and it was dark brunette. It was curly, and hung in little bouncy ringlets. Her eyes were also brown, almost the same color as his. He was really hot- he had curly brown hair, and AMAZING chocolate brown eyes. He was the one who had spoken.
Thanks, I said, standing and walking over to them, being careful not to trip over any of the CDs that had fallen out of their shelves on my walls. If you dont mind me asking, and actually even if you do, who are you? I dont mean to sound rude, but I dont remember meeting you before. The curly haired boy, who looked about my age, held out his hand to shake as he said,
Hey, my names Nick. I shook his hand. It was sort of cold in here, so he wouldnt notice how cold my hand was.
Kayla. Kayla Dark, I responded. The girl, who also looked my age, also held out her hand.
Im Lola. Its nice to meet you, She said as we shook hands.
Its nice to meet you guys too. Wow, you guys look almost exactly alike. Are you related? I asked.
Twins, They nodded and said together. Jacob and I laughed, but Nick and Lola just acted like it happened all the time- it probably did. For a second, I felt a pang of sadness- I never had a sister or brother, and I had always longed for one. It seemed like Nick and Lola got along well enough, and I wanted a relationship like that- someone I could fully trust, that I had known since I was first born. Jacob gave me a look- I was letting this emotion get a little overwhelming. I thought of something else.
So, how did you two meet Jake? I asked.
Lola met him. We just moved in next door. Theres a moving truck right in front of the house Nick said as if it were obvious. I took a few graceful steps to the window, and sure enough, there was a moving truck outside the house to our left. I turned on my heel and walked back to face them.
I knew that. Jake gave me a look, and it was almost as if he spoke aloud, You didnt hear it? Or smell the gas? Or something? I wanted to tell him I did, and that they just would have been weirded out if I already knew, but it would be a lie.

Ooh, why didn't Kayla sense them when they walked in??
