The traditional Chinese Lion dance is a part of Chinese New Year festivities. If the dance is done correctly, it is believed that will bring happiness and luck and will scare off evil away. The lion is a holy animal and has been mentioned in the Chinese mythology.

When the lion eats an orange during a lion dance performance, the skin represents gold and when it is spit out, it symbolizes spreading of wealth and fortune.

  • AWESOME

  • I agree! our benevolent association still uses the traditional southern lion heads were the hair around the eye and mouth is scraggly, not like the thick eyebrows and mouth of most of the lion heads use today, they are just too...cuddly and puffy.
