2008 Organ Donation Video Contest

Celebrating National Donate Life month
in honor of organ and tissue donors.

In celebration of National Donate Life Month (April), Donate Life Illinois is sponsoring a video contest open to anyone. The winners will be announced by Jesse White, Illinois Secretary of State, at a press conference held at Illinois State University in April celebrating National Donate Life month.

The theme for the videos will be "Remember This," which you can interpret any way you like to produce a video promoting organ and tissue donation.

You might think about the following questions when creating your video: How do you explain the registry to someone new to Illinois? What if the person you are addressing is opposed to organ or tissue donation? What makes organ/tissue donation important to you? What misconceptions about organ and tissue donation are out there, and how would you respond to them? You might want to include statistics, which can be used very effectively (available on the websites listed below).

Bonus Contest!
Sara Hickman, a popular folk and children's artist, is an ardent supporter of organ and tissue donation. She has agreed to let students use her music freely in any videos produced for this contest. Please note that music is not required, and you are not limited to using Sara Hickman's music. If, however, you should choose to use Sara Hickman's music in your video entry, Sara will select the best entries to include on her DVD collection, coming out in Fall 2008!

Please keep your videos no longer than 3 minutes.

Post your finished video as a video response here. Please tag your video with the following tags: "organ donation", "tissue donation", "organ donor", "donate life Illinois", "Donate Life Illinois video contest". You may, of course, use additional tags as you see fit.
