We visit a local park populated by leaf-people, who are enjoying their afternoon. We see autumn leaves appear in the trees and drift to the ground. Though it maintains lighthearted ambience, Stay Gold reflects on our own mortality. We are as temporary on this planet as the leaf-people and we are often ignore the warning signs of our own demise, just as they do. The poem describes the fragility of existence as well, nothing gold can stay. Created for the University of Tennessee's Film Art 535 class.
