I apologise about the quality... I had to reupload it, but iMovie gave me no love when I did it directly *sigh*.
Kanekalon is the preferred fiber for making synthetic dreads.
100% Synthetic is best used for braiding, but even then it feels horrible.
Other fibers mentioned:
Afrelle
Toyokalon
Monofiber
Textures:
Jumbo (crimpy like Afro hair)
Silky (straight like Euro hair)
Yaki (slightly crimped like Asian hair)

Where to get KK:

US - ships worldwide
cypherlox.com
ikickshins.net
doctoredlocks.com

UK
buyhair.co.uk
afrocare.com

EU
plastikhaar.ch
dreadviolet.com

  • I just put a kanekalon dread in yesterday. I've only showered with it once and it's sturdy and looks very nice but for some reason it smells like mildew for some reason.... have you had/know about kanekalon dreads smelling bad? Please get back to me. thanks

  • @AaronVernonFOP The one thing Kanekalon does is hold onto smells like smoke, sweat and mould! Avoid getting it wet in the shower, but if you need to wash your hair, DRY it very well after, but do not use a hot hair dryer. To get rid of the smell now, you will have to remove it and wash it in hot water with some laundry detergent, then put it back in after it's completely dry.

  • @DagGirl So wait, I pretty much can't wash my hair now?

  • @AaronVernonFOP You can, but you have to really let the dread dry completely. If you had a full install, you wouldn't be washing your hair at all (only your scalp once a week, which is tricky at times).

  • O.o i've used 100% synthetic to make dreads before and it has sealed just fine. They actually are.. neater? looking, than my other ones.

  • @NikaIsRandom I might be that you actually melted the fibres and they fused together to create neat sticks of dreads. You should still be able to see individual fibres when sealed. It could have been KK though, but most dread makers will not use 100% synthetic for dreads.

  • I clicked your video as a black girl about to do senegalese twists trying to learn more about the extensions the braider will use. You know so much more about braids than your black youtuber counterparts lol

  • @howlingserenity They sell both. You are talking about Cypherlox, correct? On her site, there's a section for dreads (where you can order them) and an online shop where you can buy hair materials (LOXshop). If you're after hair, you choose which colour you want and press "add to cart". Adjust how many bags you want of that colour in the cart.

  • so i know this might be a stupid question but when ordering on cyberlox.com do they sell just the hair instead of the dreads, and would i just put it in the order description what i am wanting to get?

  • @NadiaNarcotics Yeah, it happens :P

  • when you first said PP i thought you ment peepee XD
