Photographer Salvatore Mancini was born in Italy, in the village of Itri, many of whose residents emigrated to the Knightsville section of Cranston. He came from Itri to Cranston when he was three years old. His work is in numerous museums, from Washington, D.C., to Sante Fe. He has received numerous awards, fellowships and grants from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. In Italy he was awarded the prestigious Bolaffi Prize for photography.
