Er. Eh. I just gotta say it - I wish people were mentioning Al Green, the writer, more in this thread :/ because I love his version, more than this one despite how awesome it is.

Great version. Good to hear this again. I have the CD of the film soundtrack (yes, I'm that old).
I was reminded of this today when I heard Talking Heads version (on their "Best of" CD)... not bad :D
