This is some carving I did in June 2010 on a Hawthorn collected from the wild in 2005 with a small section of inverse taper. This section of the trunk needed to be thinned slightly by extending the existing deadwood area downwards, improving overall trunk taper.
The video picks up after I have removed the bark from the area using a small chisel.
I'm using a dremel with a small router bit to carve the wood, a small gas torch to burn away the burrs and wood chippings caused by carving and finally, wire brushes to sand down and clean up the wood.
Great work. Looks nice. Does it matter much what time of year you do carving?
