@geminyo A DMCA raised on this video would be illegal as the content is fair use. Specifically my use of the first video is for education and criticism.

@deconverts Amazing. Thanks for answering. You married that lady later (I think you said), so good for you!
Thanks for putting the story up. I never went through a deconversion so it's interesting. I'm continuously amazed at how trapped people are by their religions to the point of being totally unable to think.

Damn these videos brought back a lot of bad memories.

Not a bad video. Atheists and Fundies alike seem to take the bible literal (as a literary device, Lot's sexual encounters with his daughters was a story of the weakness and "sinfulness" of the human experience). It's a book of didactic stories. Also, the end quote "for good people to do evil - that takes religion", you can have the same quote the other way around. "For bad people to do good - that also takes religion."

When is Part 5(b) coming? :-)

Mate I can imagine how you felt with that pastor cramming that authority rubbish down your throat. The church I grew up in gives its pastors the same power trip where the members feel they need to always obey the man of God even if they thought he was wrong (because "God would make it right").
Pity they ignore 1 Peter 5:2-3: "SHEPHERD the flock of God .... not being LORDS over those entrusted to you, but being examples..."

Alot of Church leaders are two faced manipulators. One minute they talk about how good they are, next minute they go around raping little boys. I mean look how many pedophiles are in the church around the world. At one stage I was reading in the news at least one pedophile a week in court that was associated with Christianity.

Goodness me, just think what you might have achieved if you'd had a decent education! Well done for seeing the light.

very very nice and highly intelligent deductions...i made a video of all the parts and play it daily with changes and shells dropping on many of my indoctrinated beliefs going back to early childhood !you've done well !

Oh and before I forget, well done on another moving video Decon.

Too true that many people in the 'position of trust' in a church will tend not to be about faith but more about meritocracy; the talent being the ability to impose power and guilt. When my christian ex girlfriend took me to a meeting of the 'alpha course' I found the leader/pastor very shrill and aggressive... I was going to push him for a foaming rant about same sex relationships but I pussied out. He was scary.
I wondered: why pick these people for such a position? Seems so obvious now.
What's the name of the soundtrack that play @1:38?
Just a minor correctio: Lot's daughters were not actually virgins, as it says they had husbands(Lot's sons-in-law, as written), and they were NOT "deflowered by the mob", as far as I can recall the story.
Besides that, nice to see you doing another part of your deconversion. You better NOT disappear for so long again!

@Akatam0t0ma Thanks for the correction. I also accidentally said "Hebrews 13:7 instead of Hebrews 13:17"; I was wanting to get the video out quickly so the last half of the video is totally unscripted :P
The virgin daughter bit was my misunderstanding, I'll correct with an annotation!

@Akatam0t0ma The song @1:38 is "Sovereign" by Kevin MacLeod. I accidentally forgot the credits, so will adjust the video description to include it.

So the pastor saw you as being evil (for whatever reason), and because of that he felt that it was your fault that he was being transferred? lulz, you should have kicked his ass.
warrkrymez 1 year ago
@warrkrymez He wanted to get transferred. The church he was going to was (is) quite wealthy. He just wanted his chosen candidate to take his place, a little bit of nepotism I suppose you could say. The pastor shortly after moving to his new church, bought himself a huge house in the middle of the city (such is the wonderful nature of tax free income). I know not all church leaders are like this guy (he may have been one of the worst), but stories like mine are common - they're just not shared.

I'm missing something here. I don't see why the Pasteur screamed at you specifically. Did he know that you abstained? But you saw that others did to. Something's missing.
farvision 1 year ago 2
@farvision Generally speaking, neither did I. In essence he was a man on a power trip, somebody who craved attention and respect and enjoyed watching others following his orders. I would ask questions such as, "How do you know that God wants us to do x" or, "Why don't we join with other churches in doing y" whereas everyone else just went along with everything happily. In the months prior he had told me to break up with my girlfriend saying that the Lord had ordained me. I refused.
