This is even FUNNIER now that I've gone to the freshman orientation there and learned that, when they sing the school song, they face the tower (even if they're inside a building and can't SEE the tower). It's like Muslims praying to Mecca. And the school song sounds a little cultish anyway ("the eyes of Texas are upon you...") The central role of the tower in campus life, the expected reverence, makes this even funnier.

@bigratlover Dude, I will bleed orange until I die, but we have got one of the creepiest songs in the NCAA. I remember during my freshman year in the dorms, I was showering during a football game (I didn't have season tickets). That's not the time you want to hear that "The eyes of Texas are upon you, all the live long day...."

What is with UT Austin's community watch groups? They have their favorite students acting as snitches and spies. Also anybody is encouraged to report to BCAL behavior concerns advice line to report students. What is with this campus? It is so dysfunctional and backward. They don't want a school shooting to happen yet they treat some of their students like worthless cattle. That is just sad and unethical.
