NHRA National Time Trials Phoenix 1-28-07. Doug Kalitta warming up his Top Fuel Nitromethan powered car at the Firebird raceway in Phoenix, AZ during the National time trials. I had to go to get my fix of Nitro cars. Check out the sound on this one, lol.

  • This is what we do in America. No other countries make cars that go as fast as we do in a straight line. FACT.

  • This will get you to the grocery store, have to push to quick trip, then get you back home in no time.

  • Lol

  • Maxpower - At 15gal per 1/4 mile it works out to 60gal per mile. And yes it is Al Gore's favorite sport.

  • good job on vid, like to have been standing there when you filmed it i love the smell of nitro--

  • @chadanderik Probably because the block is not at optimum temperature. Or when you think of how hot that exhaust is. Same concept when your car is running in the cold weather you get clouds from your exhaust. The exhaust is probably way hotter then the outside air so you can see it. Just my theory anyway.

  • well miles per gallons out the window... all about gallons per quarter mile now baby!

  • Um thats not smoke, its raw fuel.there forcing somuch nitro in that engine thers noway it can burn it all at a idle or at full throttle for that matter....

  • nitro-meth gas burn different and at a lot higher rate than regular gasoline. its also open header. thats why it smokes so much..similar gas you buy from a hobby shop for nitro rc engines..

  • @MyriadesusTV 15gallons per 1/4th of a (old, 1320ft)mile = 3,75 mpg. correct me if i'm wrong (wich, i'm really sure i am) =)
