Athabasca Water Falls
The water to the Athabasca Falls is glacier fed.It is breathtaking to see this river pour through a narrow gorge which has been carved out by the force of the rushing water. A great river for rafting if you are an adventurous soul.
Athabasca Glacier in the Columbia Ice Fields of Jasper National Park is the most visited of all glaciers in North America . You can walk it although it is not recommended. It is better to take a bus then transfer to a snow coach which takes you onto the glacier surface.
This glacier is about 6 km long and about 90 meters thick. It is receding at a rate of 3 meters a year and has lost 1 km in the last hundred years and also about 50% of its volume
