ATTAR' is the Arabic word for 'syrup' and 'perfume'. The troupe derived this title from the texture and sweet connotations that the troupe expresses through their performances.
The group comprises four talented dancers: Danielle Lopes, Lisi Hannan, Magda Boz and Sophie Alize. The combination of these independently trained and experienced performers and teachers creates a unique flair of excitement and enjoyment to each performance.
In February 2009 Attar- professional belly dance troupe was formed by Jamil Halaby, who is the chief choreographer. The troupe's aim is to promote and express the art of Belly dance in an oriental and entertaining manner. With dignity and respect, Attar conveys the exotic and mysterious essential qualities of Raks el Sharqi with dynamic choreographies that entice the audiences curiosity.
