My favorite Sting solo song. It's nice to look back on those days when I still was hopeful enough to believe in songs like this. In the 80s, political/socially conscious songs like this were rare compared to the previous era. Now they are all but non-existent. Corporate radio wouldn't let people who sing like this on the air anymore. Set to a great video BTW.
as you can see the reef is all but dead. there clearly is no color in the coral. the water is murky and briny. the fish are only there because the mass of snorkelers feed them. which they're not supposed to do. i wish it wasn't so.
The reef off of the Kona Coast, where this was filmed is not "all but dead". In fact, you can even see it feeding in a few shots. The water is actually very clear - clearest in the state. The fish are there because they LIVE there. Please don't say things like this without knowing what you are talking about.
One more thing... much of the Kona Coast is lava rock. That is what you are seeing in many shots. Again, it's a good idea to know what you're talking about before throwing accusations around.
Three spots: Hapuna beach, Kahalu'u and Honaunau. All shorline in Hawaii is public, isn't that great? Hope you're able to visit someday. It's worth it.

Yes, it's a bit depressing, isn't it? I feel it will come around again, though. Thanks for your comments.
