Sigh! Imagine looking at Greer's green eyes and dancing with her. Walter must have been very lucky...

@allieree In theory fine, till you realise TCM refuse to shows all older films outside the States, wiih a German company in charge of the programming in the UK, and only showing a greatly reduced list.. Ted turner is just dog in the manger and seems to delight in not distributing films unless to the States.

Greer Garson brought to the screen a sense of goodness and decency that has never been equalled....Her performances in " Goodbye Mr. Chips ", " Mrs. Miniver " and " Blossoms in the dust " were theatrical triumphs and gave hope to the many who were suffering through the war years...the values she portrayed throughout her movie career extended to her personal life...A woman of class....

You can go on to the TCM site, and request that they show the movie. I have requested several, and seen them just a few months later. When it plays, record it.

what a wonderful and moving performance from Ms. Garson. The real Edna Gladney sure deserves from all of us our deep respect for everything she accomplished during her lifetime.
Her legacy lives on.
