***PLEASE READ THIS AND THE ANNOTATIONS!***

I've been getting a lot of negative comments lately. If you don't have anything nice to say, leave the negative comments at the door. If you leave something negative i will either a) make a sarcastic retort that makes you look silly or b) block your username and delete the comment. It's not worth trying to make me feel bad because it's just the internet.

FAQ:

1) How do you get your cars out of the garage?
A: I took it down the following day, and we pulled the cars we needed before we set up the coaster

2) What do you do when it rains?
A: Again, it was only up for a day, so it wasn't rained on.

3) How did you launch it?
A: I strung rubber bands together in a long strand that i hooked behind the car. See 0:25 for a better view of the rubber band and the block which kept the launch stable.

4) If it was only up for a day, where did you build it?
A: I built it in my basement in large sections. I had drawn the coaster on graph paper and broke the tower up into smaller chunks of like shapes and sizes. After the chunks were built, i assembled the entire tophat on it's back and laid the track, then set the pullup and pullout upright and tracked those. From there i tracked the camel back and the launch run, then the turn connecting the two.

5) Is it really 20 feet?
A: Yes, it's EXACTLY 20 feet. See http://sscoasters.net/cpg/displayimage.php?album=242&pos=6 . Each red/green/orange rod in the tophat is 6 inches, and the tophat is a total of 40 red rods high. So 40*.5=20 feet.

For all other questions, read the original description I posted over a year ago:

Here's my take on Kingda Ka, the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world. At 20 feet, this coaster is not only my tallest, but also the 4th tallest K'NEX roller coaster on the planet. I used anywhere from 20,000-30,000 pieces during it's three-month construction period.

  • Cool video but how come you used rubber bands to launch the coaster. knex has a launch system that you can buy. one might not have been powerful but maybe two or three would have launched it over.

  • Wow. Very nice. And I though that all my K'Nex stuff taking over a room was lots....
