Methylene blue(C16H18N3ClS) and dextrose (C6H12O6) in a NaOH solution

When the bottle is shaken, energy is added to the system causing the oxygen to oxidize (lose electrons) the methylene blue causing the solution to become a deep blue color. However, when motion ceases, dextrose reduces (adds electrons) methylene, causing the solution to become clear. When the oxygen is totally consumed after about 10-12 cycles, the reaction ceases to initiate.
