@payneicecold3000 I'm sure you've seen the movie The Hustler. That was great example of it, too.

@Polarcupcheck I think these first two movies the most it shows just how human these characters realy are. I was like that I loved to win knowing the person did everything they could to beat me. But if there was a chance i didnt give it my all and it came down to the wire and I won off of a fluke or descion I would want to face that person again so they know with out a shout of a dought they couldnt beat me

love duke

"He's all wrong for us baby."

@DW8814 Agreed I love Duke;s character and Tony's acting, it really is incredible when you think about how many good characters and acting performances were in all the Rocky movies...

One of my favorite scenes, Rocky and Apollo recovering in the hospital and late one night Rocky comes over and asked Apollo "Did you give me your best?", and Apollo couldn't answer because he knew he didn't. He didn't take Rocky or the fight seriously, and while Rock trained his ass off Apollo sat behind a desk and half-assed his training. More than anything he needed to answer that question.

@payneicecold3000 Yea, I love when he says, "Man, I won, but I didn't beat him." Some people will take their, as they call them, "W's" any way they can get them. The hell with that. What is surprising is how so many people can't understand it. Some people think it is stubbornness, and you get it with age. I thought this way as early as I could remember competing. There is no other way.

Its a damn shame black actors dont get the recognition they deserved him and apollo deserved oscars for this performance.

It's such a powerful scene, since Tony "Duke" was a Golden Gloves champ, he knows exactly how to portray his character in this scene. Pride, sometimes it drives a man to success, but sometimes it gives a reality check to see how good you really are.

Thats PRIDE baby I love it I understand how the champ felt its hard to think that your win was a fluke. And I would have challange the guy again just to make sure I could beat the guy. PRIDE is a powerful drug that can get to any man and I loved this scene.
That's the kind of dialogue that MAKES the Rocky movies awesome. I've always loved the energy that Tony Burton (Duke) brought to the Rocky series. He was always the "human" side of Apollo Creed.

Amazing performance from Tony Burton. Intense and heart felt. Puts a lump in my throat.
