I'm feeling overwhelmed by the state of affairs inside our land/

Naturally, I wish I was in the crowd,

Christchurch city, a place within our hearts
Unfortunately, I cannot save you with my art,
But with this song here I aim to do my part,

Please God, tell me why we lost,
was it something we did?
Are we paying for the cost?
'Cause I don't think we deserve it in the least,
We're the only country still praying for some peace
But still my mind's in a bind,
First earthquake, thank God nobody died
And then we dealt with Pike River Mines
A nation in despair, lives intertwined
I can see what it means to be a kiwi,
We unite, fight when it ain't easy.
I've seen death already I'm from Rwanda
I should be used to seeing my people suffer.

This is beautiful...I live in Christchurch and I've been numbed to everything that's happened so far...Overwhelmed with emotion, but for some reason unable to cry...This had me bawling when you said "Naturally, I wish I was in the crowd, to reach my hand down and pull those people out"..Thats EXACTLY how I've been feeling and you helped me release that helpless feeling that I couldn't express before. Thank you.

I still shed a tear every time I hear this song. I have family and friends in Christchurch who all lost someone. My best friend lives there, she pulled someone alive from a collapsed building when she was walking home. And I live in Greymouth where we are still struggling to get over losing people we knew and loved dying in the Pike River explosion. When I hear the part of the song when it's mentioned my heart drops and I feel like i did when I heeard about it.
