On May 23, 2008, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Racism, Mr. Doudou Diene of Senegal, was in Chicago as part of a three-week mission to the U.S. Mr. Diene attended a public hearing where representatives from NGOs and victims provided testimony on racial discrimination practices in the city.
He provided the hearing's Opening Remarks, during which he discussed rising trends in racial discrimination across the world and his primary goals for his mission to the U.S.
