  • Thanks for posting this! I've a pair of deer ears that I've turned and I've been trying to figure out how to skin the inside ear. It's not working too well, as you might imagine. So

    do you just leave the ear cartilage on during tanning or is there a step that you didn't show? If you do leave the cartilage attached, what's the point of earliners?

  • @bazjra The cartilage is left on during the tanning process. And once the skin is re-hydrated for mounting that is when you remove the cartilage if using an earliner. If you are using the bondo method, you would leave the cartilage on. An earliner's purpose is to replace the cartilage.
