  • How about putting the ego aside and slowing it down a little bit?

  • Ahh picking. Alternate picking, circular picking sweep picking! This is a good exercise but I don't believe it is the best for developing picking speed. Try playing the scale straight through in that A minor blues box position but play each individual note using alternate picking twice (eighth note), then three times (triplets) then four times (sixteenth). Build your speed from there. That will deemphasize the fretting hand and focus on the picking hand for speed.

  • @Harrysblues but its already slow o.o

  • @nivlafarts Don't run before you can walk, one at a time.

  • That is so Gilbertish and Laneish :)

  • @Guernseyopman How about practicing both? Get a bit of speed and co-ordination!

  • @Harrysblues You really should be able to pick out what he's playing. If you can't figure out what he's doing, then picking speed shouldn't be your priority.

  • @MartinSeamusMcfly1 well-said. pretty much exactly what I was thinking.

  • @Guernseyopman But that will only get you so far if you want to move around. You should exercise both hands equally, keeping them both in constant motion, so that you don't get too hung up on the habit of sticking to one note or string.

  • I don't use picks... is that okay?

  • @Harrysblues _YOOOOU GO GIRL!

  • @frankpaws It's a 4 notes sequence, not 3
