This is a crowd's eye view of the 9-12 tea party in D.C. from a Hampton Roads, Virginia contingent. This video is not meant to be a cinematic masterpiece, just an "everyman" perspective on the event. The clips are from various points along the march down Pennsylvania Avenue approaching the Capitol, from about 50 yards from the platform, and exiting the area about 3pm.

I'm a 22 year old patriot who has never been politically active before. I went to the march because I feel that the government cannot be allowed to continue on it's current course. It is important for the young people of this country to voice their opinions, and I can not stand by and watch as the future of my country is destroyed.

It's not about black people or white people, or old people or young people, or republicans, democrats, or independents. Even though those that aim to dismiss us as the "extremist fringe" will claim that it's about those things, it's really about everyday patriotic Americans standing up and being heard.

Thank you to all of my fellow Americans who joined us from all corners of the country, both by their physical presence and in spirit!

My apologies for the unsteady camera work, the typos, and the length of the video. At the time, I was trying to hold a sign, walk, and film at the same time, and later I was in a rush to get the video uploaded to youtube. I kept the part at the beginning talking about breakfast because I wanted to show that we are just regular people, ordinary Americans that wanted to do our part.

  • We had to wait two hours at the metro station so we missed the march. Thank you for sharing your march experience we were with you in spirit. This moment can never be taken from us. They must fear us because they hate us so much. It's time ordinary Americans roll up their sleeves again and perform extraordinary deeds for freedom of the people and for the people of the United States of America.

  • I'm sorry you got stuck waiting for the metro, but I'm glad you still shared in our celebration of American freedom. It's people like you and us that can make really a difference.

  • Thank you for posting this and documenting the times...I arrived at the Shady Grove metro station at about 11:30 and there were probably 500 people in line to get train tickets! Got downtown at about 12:30 and joined in the march to the capitol and the flow was still pretty heavy at that time.

  • Thanks for being a part of the event! Was everyone as friendly during that part of the march as they were at the start?

  • Great video, this is what Fox should be showing. Regular people, great job of editing and comments.

  • Thanks! I wanted to show what it was like from an ordinary person's point of view.

I think the event also didn't get the coverage it deserved because it was so peaceful. Everyone was friendly and well-mannered. If it was an angry mob of violent lunatics they might have talked about it more, but I was proud of the way in which the event was conducted.

  • Thank you for sharing your video and for your patriotism! I was there playing my piccolo with the fife & drum corps (I've never done that before--I play in a symphony in Central Texas) and the whole event made me prouder than ever to be an American!

  • American people protesting govts blatant disreguard for the constitution.

The authors of the constitution would be VERY disappointed to see how things are turning out.

The national anthem means more to me now than ever and I am pretty sure that most of those demonstrators feel the same.

We have to keep what is left of our freedom, that is what makes a great nation.

We must always be able to say that least we are free.

Unite and demonstrate, it is our only hope.

  • That makes me proud.

Fellow Americans demonstrating against a govt that's intent on taking away our freedom.

Our numbers are growing quickly, can't wait for the next one. I will make an effort to be there.

Thank you, all of you decent Americans! Awsome!

  • Rough guess is upward of 2 million from former NPS crowd estimate charts, Not incluidng OVERFLOW.

    2. Million marchers, NOT ONE ARREST! NPS WAS SUPER IMPRESSED HOW CLEAN THE MALL WAS LEFT.

Normal crime rate in DC. Two murders 12 rapes, 42 robberies.

WE ARE AMERICA, I had people asking me when we had 10000 If we were strong enough. told them that for every one who makes it there are 50 to a hundred that REALLY WANTED TOO.

ITS TRUE!. YOU HAVE TO BE MAD AND REALLY WANT TO For this

  • OMG, I am so proud of everyone who made it. I couldn't and am so upset I couldn't I just cry with pride for what you've done. Of all the videos I've seen a A Days Coverage is the best video I've seen. Others show the speech, Crowd, What not, Yours covers the scope 9:30am till about 4pm YOU GUYS ROCK!

Axelrod says BUISNESS AS USUAL, Pelosi still says YOUR INSURANCE FUNDED, I know my trips I haven't been given a dime,

Guess we'll have to shut down WASHINGTON FOR A WEEK NEXT YEAR

  • AWESOME VIDEO!! I was right behind you like 6-8rows of people back and seen my Dad in the one turn around you did!! :-) I was standing by him but I am not that tall!! lol!!! Thanks for the video & being a part of it!!!

  • I understand that. I had the same results here in Vegas. I read the same comments all across as the tea Party went. I even copied pictures from Fox's live feed afterwards, NO Trash. Anyway great video and Lets keep things going.
