  • maybe if you do a little research you'll see they are clear cutting old growth forest some trees can be 500+ years. That's not that fast. Clear cutting is the worst form of logging possible. There are other ways and they are choosing to ignore them. Building roads will give way to land erosion and transportation of invasive species. It is a National Forest, hence public land and it belongs to all American citizens not the Obama Administration.

  • They grow back? well, yes eventually they do. But to completely restore it to it's original state could take hundreds to thousands of years.

  • Ignorance is bliss. Before you write to the Obama administration, do a history check of where your nice little house sits...make sure that it does not sit in a city that was clearcut of the old growth to make room for your wood houses. I lived in Southeast Alaska for four years and there are people struggling to survive up there and the Timber industry is one of the helping hands.

  • ok there is no such thing as a 30000 year old forest, trees die and fall down everyday thats life, and if you cut down an "old growth" forest you notice they are void of life compared to a new forest or second growth, the trees in "old growth" are extremely unhealthy and most are rotten, if you are against logging then don't come to Alaska , actually better yet do the world a favor and go live in the woods instead of talking about how much you love them and watch them on tv. misinformed morons!!

  • Shame on america and shame on paullyak

  • Unbelievably unnecessary. What's the music though?

  • 30,000 year old forest...that is interesting. try 2-300 years as a life span for the average trees in the area.

  • How the hell could the Obama administration do this? Why he gaves green sign for this destruction? I can't believe my own eyes..

Stop this NOW! Obama go GREEN!

  • Honestly, not to insult your intelligence, but how many years do you think it takes for a tree to grow?
