@YuccaPucca once, there was a comedian called Kenneth Williams who starred in several radio shows. In one of them (the name of which escapes me) he had a rather grumpy script writer, who complained that without him, Williams was nothing, and that it was his script that was funny. The next day, Williams brought in a telephone directory and just read from that. He still managed to make the whole studio laugh. It just goes to show that you don't have to write anything to be funny.
