I can't imagine how long and difficult this was to create. I hate trying to animate without a computer tablet, but without a computer at all... Wow. The artwork in this is beautiful, and the movements of the characters seem so smooth :D It's amazing to see what anime used to look like (especially in Katsudo Shashin)

even back then Japan was better than USA (walt disney)
in SOME ways

Is there a version with subtitles? I wish I could understand it.

戦前にこんなアニメがあったとは、すごい!
それに、この頃の音源や映像が今でも残っているなんて、とっても
貴重な動画ですね。 でも、キャラクターがちょっと怖いかも・・・。

The cutest propaganda film I've seen.

@GoblehTheCat Not really, this video does not show how similar western and eastern animation is. This shows how similar they used to be. Many things are quite alike at the beginning, such as identical twins, but then spread out and change later. See, now american cartoons are meant for kids, while as japanese anime ranged to ages much higher nowadays

this really is an amazing piece. I mean the differences in western and eastern animation are so great. and in japan their styling hasn't changed at all. western styling follows the fashion of the decade..yet japanese anime has remained so true. they still rely heavily on the use of scene depth, and of expressions by characters...well in the real mastepieces..not so much in the pop culture stuff.

@jeboczek123 There is a Japanese animation here from 1907 called Katsudo Shashin, it's 4 seconds long but a great 4 seconds, and a 1917 film, a fragment really, which is here and called Japanese Old Animation 1917, it's 40 seconds. I just saw them tonight, and there may be others.
Though black and white, the art seems better than many modern anime lol

This really shows how very little different modern anime and western animation are. They are both the same thing, just different styles.
