For sure, on a 2003 Ford Taurus 4-door this particular rack will support up to 165lbs.. Almost 2 of those canoes!

There are so many options on the website. What do I need to order for my Ford Taurus and canoe? Are their different prices? Like many people I am looking for the most low cost rack available.

The most economical option would be to go with a Thule 400XT roof rack, which for the Taurus is three main parts. Thule 400XT Foot Pack, Thule LB50 Load Bars, and Thule Fit Kit 2086. Thule also makes a canoe carrier which mounts to the bars, the Thule 579XT Canoe Carrier. We would also recommend locks, so for about $400 you get a roof rack with a lifetime warranty that will support up to 165lbs. Call us if you need any more help, 1-888-399-RACK (7225).
