  • i think max roach's drumming is a bit misunderstood

mainly by pricks who dont know much about drumming and think they see a false icon that they can trash

MAX ROACH IS AND WAS A LEGEND AND WITH OUT HIM MODERN DRUMMING WOULDNT BE WHAT IT IS TODAY ENOUGH HATING, LET HIM BE!!

    :D peace

  • @SiCmetalfan I agree one hundred percent Bro!! The Cats sayin this stuff have obviously NOT studied Max at all!! He had incredible facility on the drums!! There are videos right here on Youtube that show quite clearly that Max had beautifully refined technique!!

  • @ripcalwill yes, thank you. I understand it's a jazz session. I guess what I meant to ask was what album is this from? So I can purchase it if possible?

  • @zn37 What song? This is a jazz session brother!

  • Incredible! I guess the critics here think Iron Butterfly's "Inna Gadda Da Vida" is legendary. This guy is even better than Buddy Rich. I used to watch Rich all the time in Vegas back in the 60s.

    Wow!

  • @rith5 AMEN Brotha. To all the critics and experts, post a clip of your performance and show everybody how it's done.......

  • I always found traditional grip better to play on the snare because u can get more control and more sounds out of the stick compared to matched, but as far as cymbals go matched grip dominates. (unless its a crazy hi-hat solo where people usually switch between both grips)

  • Awesome!

  • I can listen the beginning of this over and over. Excellent!!!

  • what song is this from?

  • Engineer should have at least provide Max with new heads for the session. Still excellent!

  • May I just say that in regards to ALL of these comments....1) While spending so much time on writting these OPINIONS, each one of you could have been off the computer listening to whatever drummer YOU like. 2) We are only whom we can be...At the musical level of the drummers mentions, they are all great and contributed positively to the cause. Live on Max, Buddy, Blakey, Tony, Elvin etc......
