The film, produced by Ireland-based Jam Media, is set in the present day in a working class suburb of Dublin.
We meet Roy, Ireland's only living animated character. He was born in 1972 into an ordinary 'live action' family. This fly on the wall documentary film allows us exclusive access into Roy's life where we learn of the prejudices he must overcome on a daily basis.
Roy is intelligent but unfortunately for him he is badly drawn. The film charts his increasing desperation at failing to gain steady employment. His animated body prevents him from securing regular manual jobs and his poor rendering has seen him rejected from countless animation auditions. This desperation is finally too much for Roy and with the support of his family and friends he emigrates to Hollywood in search of fame, fortune and corrective surgery.
The BBC have now commissioned a series based on the character aimed at younger viewers.
It's on BBC 2 now - 7.30am, absolutely brilliant.

It'll be coming out as a tv series for Childrens BBC next year. Roy will be younger in it (eleven), but it'll still capture the spirit of the short...
