The Belford family fell in love with little James when they were asked to take him as a baby and were told they could adopt him. Two years later, they were forced to hand him over to people they suspected to be drug dealers. The Social worker refused to listen to the evidence, telling them to quit rocking the boat and indicating that tribal heritage was the more important issue. 6 months after he was taken from them and placed in the suspect home, it was admitted the home wasn't good for him and he was moved again, but not back to the Belfords. Did no one care about the humanity of this little boy? Is it true that the only thing that was important was his tribal enrollment number?

Though ICWA Supporters say safeguards within the Indian Child Welfare Act prevent misuse, scores of multi-racial children have been hurt. Kids, never involved with the reservation, are forcefully removed from safe, loving home and placed with strangers – sometimes unsafe strangers. These children need help.
