Shouting "Death to Musharraf", villagers proudly display the scalps and fingers of their defeated enemies. The Taliban have established a parallel administration here with their own laws. "The general has no control. The militias perform virtually all the state functions", states journalist Ismael Khan. When Musharraf sent in the army, the Taliban declared war. Suicide bombing rocked the capital. Under attack from all sides, Musharraf is facing the biggest challenge of his career.

@fimmyk Im not making excuse for US. But when Iraq/Afghanistan refused a contract to build pipeline,just because it was for WesternizedEuro countries it was a big mistake. I would not deny oil to the Eastern Euro countries just because they have a diff. religion or culture. Now they have nothing,and US now controls SaudiArabia,Afghanistan,Iraq (and Iran is next in line).Taliban and Hussein they are wishing they allowed the pipeline now eh?

I don'tunderstand this war! Let those Muslims not have freedom if they don't want it. If they want to live like the Flinstones in Afghanistan let them to hell with them. We are sacrificing many things due to the state of the economy yet Britain still throws money away trying to fight these stupid wars...oh yea and we still have enough money to give to Israel. Pakistani ISI runs al-Qaeda and the Taliban, why do you think they have been able to put up a fight this long?
