Humane Society International/Canada broadcast these images of Canada's commercial seal slaughter on a giant video screen outside the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement negotiations in Ottawa. In February 2011, the Canadian government launched a formal dispute at the World Trade Organization in response to the European Union ban on seal product trade -- a move that could threaten ratification of the CETA in the European Parliament.

"The overwhelming majority of Canadians and Europeans oppose Canada's commercial seal slaughter, and support the European Union ban on seal product trade," said Rebecca Aldworth, executive director of Humane Society International/Canada. "The Canadian government's WTO challenge against the EU ban flies in the face of Canadian and European values and threatens a trade deal that stands to benefit Canada's economy by an estimated $12 Billion annually."

Do you all hear yourselves? This is a barabaric slaughter! It ISN'T humane like the government claims it to be, it isn't needed by the world, its a slaughter that hasn't been stopped because of the past needs humans have clung onto. They feel pain the exact same way we do, imagin being clubbed...skinned alive and have your body thrown back into the mass grave called an ocean and your home where you should feel safe!

So seals: Not endangered, are as much arctic prey as deer in forests, AND~! Its warm. Really, if a person wont wear fur then that's their decision. Why should anyone else be able to take away a persons freedom of choice? I would support the seal hunt and wearing that fur if only due to the fact the animals had a chance, they were in the wild. It wasn't a fur farm and Ive held a club, I know the kind of damage it can do, those seals are D.E.A.D. it just looks slow and people are blood squeamish.
