This is an animation I created for my 3D scientific animation class. I became interested in the Virgin Galactic space tours at the beginning of the semester and decided to create an animation showing the flight plan in a cinematic way. I created this animation for myself to add to my portfolio. I worked on it for about 4 months during the fall semester in 2009 at Iowa State University. I used Cinema 4d for modeling and animation. Photoshop and After Effects were also used for the film. Comments are very welcome!

AMAZING video...but surely the landing gear isn't supposed to be deployed seconds before touchdown? Sorry if I sound picky - I'm just curious really. Other than that, this was brilliant. I never usually watch 'animated' videos relating to aviation but you captured 'the dream' perfectly. Well done!

@yfrimer But this is a very short sub-orbital flight.. it requires a LOT more energy to get something into orbit.. this just goes straight up and straight down, no horizontal velocity is required.

It's incredible how simple of a concept they came up with to lower the cost of going to space by over 90%. Goes to show that the private sector really can do things way better than government. Great job with this animation video, I hope virgin galactic sees this and wants to hire you.
