Warmer days are on the way! My version of Tommy Johnson's classic, Big Road Blues. This song is originally recorded in Dropped D tuning (standard tuning with low E dropped to D). Performed by Keni Lee Burgess in Open F tuning (Open E capo 1st fret)

  • How did use use a capo and still be able to play bottleneck?

  • Thank you for your question. That the action (string height) needs to be high to play bottleneck style is a common misconception. The proper string tension for the slide is achieved by a relationship between the tuning and string gauge. The action is actually about the same height of a standard set up. You should be able to fret notes with your fingers across the entire fingerboard too. Enjoy.

  • amazing can you cover drink of cold water blues please!

  • Thank you. I think you mean Cool Drink of Water? Instrumentally for me that would make a great cover, but you should ask Daddystovepipe about this song. He would be able to do those vocals. Enjoy.

  • Sweet! But I play this in standard tuneing without a slide,I thing its cool how you figured it out in open G!

  • Thank you. Ya, thats my thing. Figuring out everything in Open Tuning. I'm in Vestapol tuning, not Spanish. Enjoy.
