This is track #5 in the album "Prometeus - the discipline of fire and demise"(2001) Then was edited in the album "Scattered Ashes: A Decade Of Emperial Wrath" (2003) as track#2. Well....sorry if are the same boring images. Here are the lyrics:

Teach me the tongue of fire
so that I may set the world ablaze
for it is cold
and this blindness can no longer give me shelter
teach me the tongue of fire
so that I may cry out loud my wrath
and my passion
or else my coil will blister and decay
the soul is never silent
but wordless
held imprisoned
in a cursed tomb
wherein reflections never fade
never die
slowly maddened
by the emptiness
left to perish in the ever-dark coil
yet, always alert it its slumber
scorn by the drops of light
piercing through the surface
and it screams
the soul is never silent
but wordless
teach me the tongue of fire
so that I may set the world ablaze
for it is cold
and this blindness can no longer give me shelter
teach me the tongue of fire
so that I may cry out loud my wrath
and my passion
or else my coil will blister and decay.

  • This track is pure genius. It showcases everything that's great about metal music, to me - power, intelligence, emotion, and it's genuine music/art.

Possibly the best Emperor track, and definitely one of the best metal tracks I've ever heard. I love it.

  • A pure creation of chaos. Feels like all the instruments are just playing their own song, at some points. Gotta love it.

  • sigh... why did they have to break up? we miss you emperor

  • 3:33-7:11 is my favorite part of the song...it shows how talented IHSAHN is as a vocalist...also the 3 people that dislike this shall suffer in purgatory for all of eternity...

  • my second favorite EMPEROR song... #1 is CURSE YOU ALL MEN! HAIL EMPEROR!!!

  • \m/EmpEroR\m/ love them

  • @Cronovian Do ya?

  • all these bands ...even the great emperor have their "cheesy" moments...like dressing up like a sith...lol...really guys...just wear t shirt and jeans and let your music speak for itself....this type of music is not showy...never has been

  • Personally my favorite Emperor song. The complexity, emotion, there's just so much to love. Plus, 3:30 and 1:49 are just so damn catchy. Such epic riffs, they've been stuck in my head for a week.

  • @rambomoore9999 Because King Diamond was the first band to utilize balls-in-a-vice singing, right?

Besides, without King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, metal as we know it would be a very different thing today.

  • i have every second of this album memorized and i still discover new things in it

  • 3:21 - 5.00 feels like spiraling in a dream within a dream within a dream in the matrix within another matrix........
