Secret Name - 1999

We'll call it Starfire, who will know?
I want a station of my own
I have the tools, I have my rule

I'll load the back and you can drive
Broken bodies all the time
Let's take a ride, Starfire tonight
Ten thousand miles away, away

  • This was the 1st song I heard by Low on internet radio back in 1999. Changed my life, forever.

  • Fantastic - soundtrack to a hundred journeys through the Clyde Tunnel holding my breath. My children think I am insane but I am considering this for my funeral celebration as the fireworks soar.....fading in from around 1.50....

  • Whenever I play Low for somebody who has never heard them before, I always put on Secret Name. It starts off with I Remember, then it goes to Starfire; needless to say, people don't know what to think.

Anyway that's besides the point. Hearing this song once is never enough for me. I usually have to listen to it at least five times, which it what I'm doing right now. This and Dinosaur Act are the only two songs that have ever done that to me.

  • His voice sounds an awful lot like Dean Wareham's here... to me anyway.

  • always worth remembering that John Peel was a big fan.

  • transcends all time(s).

  • @millarj1 well I think that's a good idea! even if I don't want to be buried but reduced to ashes this could be a good ending soundtrack while my ashes are spreaded in a secret place where no one will come to cry bringing flowers... Better have a drink a smile in my memory! Cheers!

  • I have been down these recent days, and everytime i listen to Low i get so inspired by this period i'm existing with...it is truly incredible how many great songs they have wrote.

  • one of my fav Low songs of all. Just builds, builds to the end and so beautiful...
