  • running it with the foot down WILL

mess up the whole feed mechanism !

Too bad many more of these fine machines will

evaporate because of fools like this.

  • That's right, just like firing a bow without an arrow will ruin your bow. Machines aren't designed to run empty, and I hate to see a beautiful vintage Singer (looks like a 201 to me) being mistreated.

  • That would really hurt if you accidentally put your finger under that thing.

  • @zhhyr Well wait a minute. That's not exactly true. When you take your machine in for a tune-up, repair, lubrication or to get a seized up old machine running. All repair persons will "floor" the machine to get the oil or grease distributed through the machine. Now if this machine was threaded and had a needle inserted {which this one doesn't}. Then i'd agree with you. This person ISN'T mistreating it. In fact, some of these old gems need a good "flooring" to get them running again. So relax :)

  • Use a needle threading tool. they make it easier. much easier.

  • how du thread it n set the needle ive been tryn 4 lik an hour...

  • I have a nice Singer 201-2 for sale-$50. See my post at Craigslist under collectables.

  • everytime I look at a singer sewing machine it somehow reminds me of the triangle shirtwaist factory

  • how much will one sell if it has its own cabnet put in it and kept in good condition can one of you message me how much one of these is worth,it looks like the same model though but a bit different

  • I suppose I should have said with the presser foot up. Sometimes I tend to take some things for granted having dealt with a servicing sewing machines the past 20 years.
