"influence punk rock forever"

Um, no? They're a good band and all, but bands that "influenced punk rock forever" are bands like the Clash, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, bands that were around when it was new and are still some of the best punk music today. Dropkick Murphys are good, but they didn't influence the genre. I think a better way of putting it would be that they became a famous punk rock band.

@iaiceikiingi47i i didnt say there was anything wrong with being a punk, im just saying that they were their own style of punk, they didnt support the punk scene but they were still as good

@Gravelgutband People need to stop responding to things posted a year ago, but I still stand by the fact that they didn't really alter punk-rock that much. They're a great band, but they're not some sort of crazy revolutionaries. And there is nothing wrong with being a punk. Punk rock is the best and I am proud to be a part of it.

@keet1974 You're completely missing what I was trying to say... They're the only band that people think of and go "Oh, they're an Irish-punk band." Obviously the Pogues and Flogging Molly are great bands, but they're punk rock just like the Ramones or the Dead Kennedys, nobody tries to classify them as a completely different band because of their ethnicity. And the Sex Pistols aren't from Ireland, I was pretty sure they were English and I checked. They're all from London I believe.

@iceman82996 Irish punk isn't a genre. They're punk rock and have Irish influences, but seeing as they're probably the only famous "Irish Punk" band I'm going to have to say that it isn't really a genre.

That being said I actually really like other types of punk like 3rd wave ska, pop-punk, or hardcore punk. Who cares if you skate or not, that's not what punk rock or any sort of punk is about.
