  • This giant toilet is not the thing top class airlines need. It is like the Titanic with a few choice seats for the wealthy and crowded, inconvenient unpleasantness for the rest of the passengers. There is an obvious reason these monstrosities are not flying at capacity - no need for such.

  • @poskyflyer

Yep, your correct. This should open up a lot of more new international routes.

I've herd that they might be sending some to BOM (India) again and maybe have a greater presence in the Middle Eastern (DXB) and Afrcian (JNB) markets.

    That'd be so nice :)

  • @scvs2 why would the 787 only fly canada and US? its range is over 7000NM enough to get to tokyo from toronto

  • how this is posible

  • @scvs2 From what i understand, the A340s were sold.

For info about the 787s its still a long time til AC gets them, so there isn't all the much info about them.

AC is buying the 787s to replace the 767-3s so for SURE the 787s will fly Domestic, Transborder and International routes.

And b/c the 787 has longer range than the 767s they will open up more interational routes for AC to discover.

Hope this helps... but all this info i've goten is from online forms and blogs.

  • @riaruh oh, but aren't these leased out? So what happens when the lease ends? Also will the 787 fly international or just Canada and Us?

  • @scvs2

Nope. The only new aircraft AC will get are the Boeing 787's ... and that to some time in 2013.

  • @riaruh Is air canada going to get the 500's back?

  • there was no point at all to buy tis aircraft it was like in the fleet for like 2 years now its gone, doesnt it cost more to buy it than sell it??

  • @TheAirplanelover

"Air Canada's Airbus A340-500s (C-GKOL, fin 951 and C-GKOM, fin 952) were retired in August 2007 and replaced by Boeing 777-200LRs. They were then leased to TAM Airlines"
