Im a fire fighter myself and its call a water sheet used to contain heat and cool down the fire to make it easier for an interior attack to do good fast to keep fire fighters safe.

@rmls34 it is called a water curtian and is used to help keep fire from spreading.

Its a smart incident commander who realizes that to put the building out would cause an expensive environmental runoff issue especially if the building contained pesticides fertilizers and other agri chemicals. Let it burn, protect exposures, knock down burning brands, protect your people and the public. Nice job.

its called a controlled burn, the building prob can't be saved is prob a total loss, so they'll switch gears to save the surrounding area from catching fire.
oh they'll keep on spraying water on it to keep it conrolled

At the time they were trying to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby buildings, or to the tank cars, keeping them cool so they wouldn't explode.
